4 Cards and Decks

On the World Wide Web a collection of pages (documents) is known as a Web Site. In WAP there are no pages. Content is displayed on individual cards, which are grouped together in a deck. Several decks can be combined to produce a WAP site, but each individual document and the smallest piece of data sent to the browser is the deck.

There is no formal limit to the number of cards in each deck, but small device memory limits each deck to a maximum size of 1200 to 1400 bytes. As ever with WAP you must develop for the lowest common denominator. Don't bother creating anything over 1200 bytes because some devices will display an error message.

Only one card is displayed on screen at a time, but all the content within the deck document along with any images is loaded into the device memory prior to its display. Again keep things small for quicker loading.

Unless specified by a link, the top or main card on each deck is displayed first. To view other cards a link must be created to each card.
