6 Formatting

Text appearance can be modified/highlighted using context-based and physical style tags.

Context-based tags tell the browser the highlighted text is special. By default use context-based tags in most cases.

<p>
<em>For emphasis</em>, usually rendered in italic.<br/>
<strong>For even more emphasis</strong>, usually bold.
</p>

If no special meaning is implied then a physical tag can be used. These imply nothing, simply telling the browser to display differently.

<p>
Normal, <b>bold,</b> <i>italic,</i> <big>bigger,</big> <small>smaller,</small> <u>underline.</u>
</p>

Normal, bold,
italic, bigger,
smaller,
underline.

These tags are not supported by every browser. Some even ignore text formatting tags entirely.
